Yunomi

discovering the connection between old ceramic traditions, 2D sketching, and new 3D modeling software

After taking an intensive ceramics class at Stanford, I realized that one of my favorite ceramic designs is the Japanese yunomi tea vessel. I love the simplicity and subtle details that make them both comfortable to hold and pleasing to look at. I found that using CAD modeling software somehow had an oddly similar feel to creating a wheel thrown ceramic piece. Thus I thought it would be funny to create some traditional ceramic forms using a modern technology so that they could perhaps be turned into plastic drinking cups. The model was created in Autodesk Fusion 360.
